Grandpa's prayer

As much as Daniel has an interest in Hanukkah, he and his sister learned the Prayer Before Meals in record time.

We started saying a simple prayer before eating more than a year ago. I chose a simple prayer which I knew all of the kids would be able to handle. They do the sign of the cross (somewhat correctly) and say "God is good, God is great, thank you for our food today. Amen." This quickly became followed by one of the kids, usually Daniel, saying "Now you may eat," as that was usually my line at the beginning. Oops.

Around Easter when my parents came to visit the kids let Grandpa lead the prayer, which he said as the 'traditional' "Bless us O Lord, and these, thy gifts..." The kids liked the prayer, as I discovered when they said "No - we need to say Grandpa's prayer!" I think they learned it in about a week!
